Tucked away in a quiet enclave off Prahran's bustling shopping district, the residential project embraces its position as an urban sanctuary. "Celebrating the sense of a calm urban oasis was one of the key drivers of the design," says Sarah Reid, who founded her practice in 2016.

The studio, known for crafting elegant and inventive design solutions through a highly collaborative creative process, worked closely with local manufacturers and suppliers on the comprehensive interior refresh. Their approach aligned with the client's vision for a more contemporary and light-filled home.

While maintaining the existing floor plan, SR&O strategically opened up the main living areas to maximize natural light penetration and create stronger visual connections to the landscaped courtyards. The interior scheme employs a refined material palette of subtle textures, punctuated by carefully considered color accents that add visual interest at key sightlines throughout the space. The thoughtful layering of furniture and objects anchors each room, featuring a curated mix of custom-designed pieces and proprietary items sourced predominantly from local manufacturers.

Despite the project's well-defined brief leading to a smooth design process, the team navigated several technical challenges, including the modernization of dated electrical systems and careful budget management. "Communication with the client was key in resolving any unforeseen costs and lead time issues," Reid explains. "Working closely with a trusted builder also helped us maintain precise control over the process."
