In the heart of Huizhou, China, BDSD Boundless Design has transformed a duplex penthouse into a luminous sanctuary that balances minimalist aesthetics with thoughtful architectural elements. The Casa of Sloping Roof project showcases how contemporary design can create spaces that feel both sophisticated and deeply livable.
A Vision of Light and Space. The client's brief was refreshingly simple: create a home that embodies freedom, openness, and familial connection. BDSD Boundless Design responded by conceptualizing a space that functions like an art museum bathed in natural light, where clean lines and unadorned surfaces create a canvas for daily life to unfold.
The penthouse's defining feature is its dramatic pitched roof, a structural element that does more than just crown the space—it creates a compelling visual journey. A thoughtfully designed vertical staircase serves as both a functional element and an artistic statement, its alternating blocks and lines drawing the eye upward to the Le Corbusier-inspired attic floor.
The renovation opened up previously dark spaces to create an abundance of natural light through strategically placed windows. This transformation has turned every corridor and corner into an opportunity for discovery, where the interplay of light and shadow adds depth to the minimalist palette.
Living Spaces That Breathe. The interior layout prioritizes flow and functionality. A sophisticated storage system, integrated seamlessly into the architectural elements, maintains the space's clean aesthetic while meeting practical needs.
