Justin Ma, Founder and CEO of Yulan Group Limited, says, “With the Arca, we have set out to offer a new breed of hospitality. With art and design at its core, the Arca is a communal hub that encourages guests to express their desires and share ideas and inspiration with one another. Most importantly, the Arca is a place where people can feel like they truly belong and where they can feel completely taken care of thanks to a team that is wholeheartedly dedicated to unforgettable service.
Designed in collaboration with local design studio Design Eight Five Two (DEFT) with the ethos of ‘every detail matters’, the Arca is the product of more than two years of rigorous bespoke design.
The Arca’s aesthetic is borne from a unique combination of refined materiality and playfulness, where the building’s original concrete features are seamlessly blended with modern elements such as terrazzo flooring. Across different areas such as the multi-function hall and bar/lounge, the use of custom-designed decorative lighting, handpicked fabrics, copper detailing, concrete plaster walls and timber furniture help define each space with a unique feel.
The main hotel entrance on the ground floor features a contrast of textures and colours as the façade’s charcoal grey bricks lead to a peach-mirrored reception desk backed by a full height wall of glazed half-round ceramic tiles, all atop a swirling epoxy floor. Guest rooms adopt a light material palette using austere, earthy tones and oak veneer, while suites are defined with a slightly cooler palette that lends plenty of ambiance. The attention to detail throughout the Arca continues in thoughtful design touches such as custom branded shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap packages.
