Design studio Fourteen a.m. brings Japandi-inspired minimalism to a bespoke residential project through thoughtfully crafted joinery pieces, transforming a private London residence into an urban sanctuary.

Designed for a young family with refined taste, this project embodies the studio's ethos of bringing mindfulness to city living—creating spaces that offer respite from urban stress. The careful selection of materials plays a crucial role in achieving the project's calming atmosphere. American white oak and walnut, with their distinct grains and warm hues, create a tangible connection to nature while contributing to the home's serene ambiance.

The innovative under-stair storage, crafted in American white oak, maintains the airy feel of the open-tread staircase while providing practical solutions for family life. It features flexible-height coat hooks, dedicated shoe storage, and space for a child's bike, complete with a built-in seating area for shoe-fitting.

A versatile family storage unit showcases the studio's understanding of modern family dynamics. The design combines adult storage above with child-accessible areas below, following Montessori principles. A discreet wine fridge and thoughtfully planned display areas for the clients' art collection demonstrate how functionality can blend seamlessly with refined aesthetics.

In the kitchen, bespoke solutions take form through a multifunctional unit featuring a clever fold-down table that transforms from a practical dining surface into an artistic element when not in use. The study space, distinguished by rich American walnut tones, balances closed storage with display areas, adding depth and sophistication to the overall design scheme.

Every element of Rumah Orchid has been crafted to serve both the practical needs of family life and the sophisticated tastes of design-conscious adults. This thoughtful space evolves with its inhabitants while maintaining its artistic integrity, creating a true sanctuary within London's dynamic landscape.
