Maximale, an architectural design firm based in Madrid, has transformed a family apartment in the city into a monochromatic canvas. Their use of natural light and shadow creates a nuanced dialogue that showcases their sensitivity to capturing such light. The founders, Pablo Delgado and Cristina Garau, are renowned for this skill, which is brilliantly showcased in their project, ML21.
Designed as a family home, this dwelling is organized around a central core that houses the main living areas. Each function is subtly differentiated by changes in height and defined volumes, while maintaining seamless circulation. The result is a fluid and harmonious environment with a cohesive visual language defined by neutral warm hues, wooden flooring, and meticulously designed shapes that make ample use of natural light. The combination of these elements yields a peaceful and easy-going ambiance throughout the apartment.
Beyond the public space, where guests are entertained and socialize, there is a clear separation between private areas, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, and main living spaces. This division of spaces is an important element in creating a comfortable and functional home. By separating the main living areas from the private spaces, homeowners are able to enjoy a sense of personal space and solitude when needed, while still being able to entertain and socialize in the public areas.

Guided by a strong analytical and conceptual vision, Maximale defines an architecture that uses light and geometry to reach proportion, harmony and coherence. Their work focuses on social, cultural and environmental matters by fostering a continuous relationship between art, design and research.
